Impress Your Boss

Impress your bossBeing on good terms with your boss is essential for you to enjoy your work and maintain a good work-life balance. As your manager plays an important role in building your career, you need to create a favorable impression to achieve recognition and success.

Do What You Say You'll Do

To create a good impression, you don't have to say yes to everything your boss says. You just need to be diligent, honest and proactive at your workplace. In other words, you should be someone who your boss can trust at work.

The best way to impress your boss is to come across as a dedicated professional at your work. You should work on your weaknesses and improve skills to make a strong impression. As you demonstrate your readiness to learn and contribute in a positive way, your boss will see you as a mature and responsible resource.

As the first step, you should follow work ethics and do what you say you'll do. It is, therefore, important for you to take your work seriously and make a commitment after taking all factors into consideration. Here are some useful tips for you to impress your boss.

Think Before Saying Yes and Do What You Say You'll Do

Many employees in an attempt to win over their bosses end up saying yes for everything. While you might also find it tempting to say yes whenever your boss assigns a work to you, you should consider the consequences of not meeting expectations and delaying an important delivery. Rather, you should determine if the work given to you can be completed within a stipulated time. Unless you are confident, you should refrain from saying yes.

If you are working with a team on a collaborative assignment, you should consider the time and effort required from your team members before committing to a timeline.

Learn to Prioritize Your Work

When you commit yourself to a work, you should give your 100 percent to ensure it is completed on time. To get the work done properly, you should be focused and detailed in your approach. The best thing to do is to plan everything in advance and compartmentalize your responsibilities. You should have a road map ready to get your work done on time. For example, if you have a research report to prepare you can plan on how much time you will spend on doing your primary research and how you will proceed with data analysis. By adopting a systematic and methodical approach, you can complete your work and impress your boss.

Keep Your Boss Updated About the Project Status

To ensure that you are on the right track with the project, you need to keep your boss updated about the progress you are making. You should be more organized and share the status with your senior on a regular basis. By keeping your boss informed, you share important details and ensure him that the work is moving at the right pace.

In this competitive world, you need to impress your boss and leverage career opportunities. By adopting a more reliable and responsible outlook, you can progress in your career.
