An economic burden…or gift?

There is little question how badly the state of the national, and even global, economy has affected job employment. But does being part of a minority group paint a bigger target, for good or ill?
For those dreading that pink slip every morning due to downsizing, could one’s diversity serve to make you a liability, or a needed resource? Likewise, when trying to apply for a position, does “the race issue” act as a trump card or a ?handicap?
Of course, the ideal answer is that race should provide neither advantage or detriment. Race shouldn’t be an issue at all. But between affirmative action efforts and any lingering traces of segregation, the shadow of race still holds some sway.
How has it affected you? Let us know in the comments.
